Description
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be subject to adverse conditions such as high humidity, high temperatures, high wind, extreme cold, rain, sleet, and snow. The outside work environment will vary throughout the workday including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings and/or rural settings.
The Crew Chief Reports to the Underground Construction Manager or Project Manager and other senior management.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning construction schedules and complete projects in a pre-determined time frame.
• Operation and daily maintenance of underground construction equipment including trenchers, backhoes, plows, boring tools and directional boring machines.
• Direct personnel and crews assigned and ensure daily production schedules are met.
• Assist in planning work and resources.
• Monitor material needs
• Coordinate with aerial construction, splicing, fiber and technical departments to meet schedules.
• Carry out Broadband’s safety program and assist with weekly safety meetings.
• Monitor upkeep of equipment
• Ensure all reports are presented in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications:
• Organized individual with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NESC, federal, state and local ordinances.
• Five plus years experience in construction fiber and coax systems
• Familiar with industry standard aerial and underground CATV design
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• CDL and personal computer skills helpful
• Ability to lift 90 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
