Unlike a traditional medical Spanish course, EdOdyssey's The Latinx Patient emphasizes both language AND culture. This means that it's not just about the vocabulary and grammar, but understanding the cultural context and day-to-day life of Latinx patients both in the United States and throughout Latin America, and how those experiences guide their decisions in life and with health in this country. We then use that information to understand how patients use Spanish and how we can take advantage of that knowledge to improve the way healthcare professionals educate, inform, and communicate with them. By the end of the course, you will have the tools required to create better patient-provider connections; one that is true and based on what your patient values and be part of the solution in providing better care to the largest minority population in our country. The program is open to students and professionals in healthcare looking for learning that's meaningful and practical.
