Position Title: Sexton/Custodian Reports to: UPC Property Manager Directly Supervises: No Supervisory duties Status: Full Time FLSA: Non-Exempt Salary $32,000 Benefits: 100% employer-paid medical benefits for employee and family; death and disability coverage; pension (vested after 3 years of employment); 20 days of PTO per year. Job Summary The UPC Sexton assists the Property Manager in the care and maintenance of the church grounds and facilities and enables the congregation’s ministry by ensuring clean spaces and appropriate set-ups for a variety of activities in the life of the church. Essential Functions 1. Maintain a regular schedule of cleaning spaces in the church building as directed by the Property Manager and other members of the staff. 2. Complete set-ups and break-downs for a variety of ministry events. 3. Assist with minor repairs to church equipment and assist outside contractors in finding the appropriate equipment for major maintenance projects. 4. Ensure the safety and security of the facility in partnership with the church resident. Other Responsibilities Attend a weekly staff meeting. Participate in Property Committee meetings as needed at the direction of the Property Manager. Core Competencies 1. Positive, friendly and helpful attitude for both staff and church members 2. Attention to detail in cleaning and set-ups. 3. Basic knowledge for minor repairs. 4. Ability to lift and move heavy furniture or equipment.
