We’re looking for someone excited to: • Learn unique bridge construction methods specific to our business • Collaborate in a team environment • Travel full time to many different parts of the country (lodging, transportation, per diem paid by company) • Be physically active on the job daily • Work in various conditions, heights, and climates YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT FOR THE YBC TIMBER BRIDGE TEAM IF YOU ARE… • Experienced with rough carpentry, framing and or heavy timber construction • An experienced pile driver, we drive wooden piles with a vibratory hammer technique • Experienced with building docks and marine construction • Experience in wooden bridge construction How do we build a Timber Bridge? Timber Bridge Building Process - Driving timber pile (augering, drilling), constructing abutments & pile bents, constructing spans utilizing stringers, blocking, & diaphragms, laying vehicular & pedestrian deck, raising vehicular guard rails & handrails, and painting & finishing. Timber Bridge Materials - Southern Yellow Pine & Douglas Fir Wood, Glulaminated Beams, Rough Sawn Heavy Timber, Composite, Hardwood Deck Material, Acrylic Polymer Coating, Translucent Oil Coating Skills you need to build a timber bridge (we’re looking for all levels of experience!): Laborer o Heavy equipment operation (skid steer & forklift) o Basic use of common carpentry hand tools o Excellent painting, pressure washing and sanding skills o Accuracy in cutting, drilling, & assembling the structure (heavy timber/wood framing) o Organization, clean up, and inventory Journeyman Carpenter (all of the above plus): o Assisting in pile driving (spotting the pile driver for accurate placement) o Proficiency with chainsaw, impacts, drills, &circular saw & other power tools for cutting heavy timber o Can read & understand drawings / blueprints & lumber take offs Leadman (all of the above plus): o Highly proficiency with all tools listed above o Basic pile driving, augering, and drilling experience o Excavator operation o Can give direction & has strong leadership skills Employee Benefits (Qualifying period applies) • 17 paid holidays (2 weeks off at Christmas) + PTO • 100% employer paid health, life, and long-term disability insurance • Dental, vision, and auxiliary insurance available • Year-end bonuses • After 1 year of employment: profit sharing, 401k available plus 4% Company contributions • Travel voucher for construction breaks • All lodging and travel expenses paid for by company We are a small company who is the nation’s industry leader for building state of the art timber bridges.
