Description
I have a two year old neutered dog who I am looking to place. My plan was to keep him in my care until I could trust him with someone but with having a newborn of my own it is in his best interest to place him with someone who is equipped and able to work with him more consistently. With his previous owners he snapped at their niece, I have not gotten a consistent story about what happened but they needed me to take him.
He has not bit me, and I have not figured out what had triggered him. I’ve only put him in structured, controlled situations on a leash. My only theory this far is he is defensive about his space, doesn’t like people in his face and his signs were missed so it escalated. His family cried over giving him up and said the behavior is random. I don’t believe dogs bite randomly, but he needs to be with someone who knows how to work with this behavior. He truly wants to be loved, and overall has been friendly. Since I don’t have a good connection with him yet I don’t trust him with my other dogs or family yet. He needs someone firm but fair who will give him structure he needs to have a successful, full life. His previous owner stated they didn’t discipline him, he does jump when excited and pull on the leash so he will also need further obedience training.
For his safety and people around him I would like to place him with someone who is open to kennel and muzzle training if these things are needed and in his best interest.
Please email a bit about yourself and how you would plan to rehabilitate and train him.
