Do you need a solid pro collaborator?

Description

Do you need a seasoned musician with an accurate ear and tight feels? Here is an informal summary of my music experience- largely rock and hard rock during the late 90's through the 2000's in the NYC area. I may have responded to your ad recently and I have been somewhat active on social media with new videos. Thank you for checking out my music bio! 1990's First, I luckily shared stages and studio time with some major major pros early on in their careers. I played BASS or GUITAR in one band that was Retro-Funk and another that was Third-Wave Ska. We also mic'd and taped many jams in studios. I worked more closely later on with one key collaborator* who was from my hometown. Mike and I had two original bands performing together all over the NY-area. I played DRUMS or BASS, sometimes KEYS, plus VOCAL harmonies. We also had a third separate rap-metal cover band together for kicks for many years. I was strictly the KEYBOARD player and we played Long Island parties mostly but also the city on occasion. That is the band that played Coney Island High on St. Marks Place. This was literally in the years during and right after he made the Daktaris Afrobeat album (as co-producer) and was featured on Dub Side of the Moon (he already had a separate spot in an international major-label act). Republican Enemy played a lot of Black Sabbath, I'll put it that way ;). 2000's Also for DRUMS, I marched in countless summer parades on wide ranging percussion, originally hired on Glockenspiel. I became the regular on Quintuple Toms after a couple of years. Members of that marching band included more major pros like a Tony Nominee and a trumpeter who has an album with Ornette Coleman. We marched in the Hamptons out east every Fourth and it was crazy hot for many of those parades. For guitars and keys, I worked with another ex-signed music pro around NYC (NYHC band Sheer Terror's 2nd drummer Jay). I played GUITAR and KEYS plus VOCAL harmonies in that hard-rock cover act. Zeppelin w/synth patches, STP on elec. rhythm (2nd) gtr., Priest and Metallica too on electric but also modern rock like Sublime on acoustic. We partnered in running a studio and booking out time for a year as well, working with local artists for a nice fee. One member of that cover band named Ian, was a crazy talented guitarist at the time collaborating with a member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra! 2015-2017 I have also sung LEAD VOCALS and handled KEYS and BASS in rock cover bands here in Reno for a few years, and am currently developing better jazz technique on piano. *Mike was a key founder of Grammy-nominated Antibalas, and was also one-third of Desco Records, the soul-funk precursor label to Grammy-winning Daptone Records. Mike's solid collaborators that I only worked with very briefly are Gabe Roth, Luke O'Malley, and Martin Perna. I learned stuff like Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic, James Brown and even Reggae feels from them very early on so they gave me my music foundation in a way.
