Description
I am pursuing a photographic medium that was mostly abandoned in the late 1800's in order to bring back a sense of permanence to photography. These images will last hundreds of years. There is no Photoshop, digital, or analog manipulation.
I love the look of 100+ year old photographs. I understand why some thought that the photographic plate stole your soul.
I am looking for people to sit for portraits.
You must be perfectly still for 1-3 seconds.
You will have to travel to my driveway in Coatesville. (I have to sensitize the "film", take the picture and develop it, all within 12 minutes. I do not yet have a traveling darkroom. This is known as wet plate photography.)
The chemicals that are used are highly unpredictable and there is no guarantee that an image will even manifest- but I'll do everything I can so that you have an image of your person that can be passed down through the generations.
You can keep the plate and I will take a digital photo of it to use for advertising this process (once I have it mastered.). The plate must be dried, varnished with lavender/tree resin and dried again which takes another 10 minutes.
You will have to sign a model release. There is no monetary compensation.
