Do you want to go camping but never gone before and want to know what to buy, what to bring, or how to use or set up the camping gear. Do you want to try backpack camping or car camping or campsite camping? Or do you just want to learn some survival tips and tricks to further your knowledge This Saturday at 10 am I will be at the Alley Pond park parking lot at 76th Ave off of Springfield Blvd for a free instructional camping & survival lecture. I will be discussing things like alternative fire making, water purification methods, knives that are illegal to have in NYC and knives that you are legal, gear suggestions and gear talk like flashlights vs headlamps best led lanterns to use, what to use to cook your food and other tips and tricks to help you get out into the great outdoors There will also be a free giveaway to one lucky person of a cast iron camping fire bowl/pot that you can use on your future camping trip Again this is a free service no cost to you at all I have spent 30+ years reading,researching and living and teaching of the great outdoors. Bring a friend... For safety reasons if you have not been vaccinated wear a mask, and those that are vaccinated must socially distance yourselves from those that have not. Suggested things to bring is a bottle of water, a camp chair if you got it ( there are benches there too to sit on) and hand sanitizer incase the bathrooms there run out of hand soap.
