Description

Pray with us, neighborhood by neighborhood, as we seek God's peace for the city together. pray and break bread (pbb).NYC is one of City Seminary of New York's core practices. Each year we visit different neighborhoods in the five boroughs for a time of learning from ministry leaders, Scripture reading, prayer walking, and eating food specific to each neighborhood. As we journey together, we come to know and love our city more, build community, and experience God's presence in the city in ways we might not otherwise notice. This year we will focus on the theme Care for the Peace of the City. As we walk, pray, and eat together, we will consider the ways we care for our city, each other, and ourselves: through pastoral and spiritual care, community care, mental health care, creation care, and more. We will begin the academic year with our annual pbb.WHERE YOU ARE NYC on September 14, 2021 - inviting participants to pray from their own neighborhood and share this time over Zoom or in solidarity (sharing photos and prayer requests over Facebook). For the rest of the year, we will either join in person (socially distanced with safety measures) or via Zoom as our neighborhood hosts introduce us to their communities. While we may not be able to "break bread" together, we hope you will bring your own munchies as we spend time in reflection at the end. For more information, please email [email protected].
