Invitational Jeeping and Rock Crawling in Chokecherry Canyon, Rock Garden, and Largo Canyon
This is all in Northwest New Mexico.
The purpose of the invitational is to get clubs and groups a good overview of the Off-Roading found in the Farmington, NM area. The purpose is to get groups and clubs oriented on how to get around with some great 4 wheeling. We will break into groups based on the build of the vehicle and driver capabilities. Instead of prescribed routes (like Fall Crawl), each group of guides will decide the routes that they want to take for Saturday and Sunday. this means that you will be partnered with a group of guides so when you come back you will know where to take your group here in the area. Monday will be a play day at the comp area. We did put Rock Garden, Largo Canyon, and the Dunes area in the permit just in case we get enough participants to go see these areas on Sunday with specific groups. The Rock Garden will be more extreme (37"tires with lockers front and rear, a winch and up). Largo Canyon is a ruin run (mostly 2WD any 4 wheel Drive can do this run). The dunes are is a fun area for sand wheeling in the dunes (you probably want lockers but all will be accepted).
In 1978 the Cliffhangers Four Wheel Drive Club was formed. The founding members Jim Peterson, Don Sisson, Bobby Harrison, Harold Fahs, and Leroy Riley were looking to build a club that was safe and family oriented. Now the club has a member base that is involved in trail development, land management, Four Wheeling, events, and much more.
The Cliffhangers set out to promote and encourage interest in the serious operation and ownership of four wheel drive vehicles and promote good fellowship and social activities among its members and their families.
