Mahalo. I am a freelance writer/journalist based in Michigan who will be in Vegas from Friday August 20th through Monday the 23rd. My assignment is to cover the WWE and Pacquiao fights that weekend with the lead being social analysis in a pandemic era. The piece is supposed to focus on how society reacts to a big ticket event in a post lockdown world all while in the fear of another one. Or something like that. The window is short which is why I am covering this. I am looking for an assistant (preferably female 21-35) to become part of the story who has a creative mind and adventurous attitude to, err, assist in random activities and observations/interviews on the Vegas Strip. Just pure Gonzo performance art. The timeframe I have is around an hour or two. Unfortunately I cannot get you into the WWE/Pacquiao events as I will be covering those alone but I'm not interested in those stories. I can write them right now or on the plane back. I want to see how John or Jane Q. Public adapt to a Vegas world in a time of vaccines, masks, and pent up emotion. This project includes interviews with strangers, photography, and loud music/noise. The piece as I have outlined is meant to be part fact and part fiction, so creativity is preferred. I would hire a professional but don't want some confused person staring at a slot machine while I antagonize some poor guy at the sports book on the change to the Cleveland baseball team's mascot.
