POSITION PURPOSE The Facilities Maintenance staff member will provide cleaning, maintenance and repair of the physical facilities of the RJKCCC and as needed, for Railton Place. This includes all building and utility infrastructure and grounds of the RJKCCC/Railton Place. Must be available to work flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays, depending upon seasonal program needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age. At least one year of experience in maintenance required. Experience in plumbing, painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and electrical work. Knowledge of plumbing fixtures, repair and appliance installation. Knowledge of interior and exterior painting, types and proper application of paint and wall repair. Possess a teachable spirit and the ability to work with or without supervision. Have or be able to obtain a Lift Truck Safety Course certificate. Have a valid California Driver License as this position requires driving at times. Available and flexible to work all special events, particularly those held during the evenings and on weekends. Attention to detail, quality, and professionalism. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment. Must have ability to work and relate well with people. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving. Able to maintain a valid (clear) driving record/license during employment. Within one month of hire, must take and pass Fleet Safety Test of The Salvation Army. Certification by and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis. Have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of the Center and The Salvation Army. Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving. Phyical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed is a reasonable and no undue hardship would result. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide cleaning, maintenance, painting and repair of the physical facilities of the RJKCCC/Railton Place. Daily monitoring of all building facilities including street property, parking lot and landscaped areas. On a daily basis, monitor all electrical, security, communication and ventilation systems for the building.  Immediately report any problems to the Facilities Engineer Manager.  If he is not available, report to the Center Director or Kroc Administrator. As directed, work with BCM, and contractors to assist in their repair of co-generation plant. Responsible for monitoring garbage levels and ensuring compactor is functioning properly.  Be sure compactor room is locked at all times. As directed, be among the first respondents on fire alarm system, chemical spills and/or hazardous materials management.  In the event of a chlorine gas spill, call CHEMTREC at their Emergency “800” number.  (Currently:  1-800-262-8200.) As directed, identify any needed repairs or special projects to plumbing, electrical, windows or structures and report them to Facilities Engineer Manager.  To ensure high standards, outside vendors may be used. Perform other Railton maintenance duties as requested by management. Review the work of the Cleaning Service on a regular basis. Report any concerns or problems to the Facilities Engineer Manager and/or to the Cleaning Service. Meet regularly with the Facilities Engineer Manager to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling and replacement of facilities and equipment. Check daily for any signs of graffiti or vandalism damage to the RJKCCC buildings and property, including bus stops, fences and light poles.  Report any incidents, which may include photographs and a written account.  Report serious vandalism to the Police Department.  Repair all vandalism immediately after reporting and recording the damage. Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, guests and members of the RJKCCC.  Report all problems with the facilities to the Facilities Engineer Manager and/or Center Director. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. Work in a cooperative manner with the other on-site directors and managers of the RJKCCC, discussing any problems that may be occurring within the facilities in which their programs operate. Attend all scheduled staff meetings. Perform other assignments/duties as directed.
