Eco-landscape Company is looking for a landscape construction worker to join our team. Work involves a mix of landscape and construction tasks related to creating unique living rooftop and wall environments. DESCRIPTION: SYMBIOS is a design, build and maintain company specializing in installations of living roofs and green walls on buildings. In addition, projects also incorporate alternative water systems for irrigation, such as rainwater harvesting, greywater, water re-use systems and ground-based stormwater management systems, e.g., bio-swales, bio-filtration, detention basins, rain gardens. We also maintain many of our built projects. Project sites are primarily in the Northbay (Sonoma, Marin, Napa counties) and occasionally projects are in San Francisco, East Bay & South Bay areas and Sacramento area. EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time, 2-3 days per week. Some flexibility exists with scheduling of workdays. Opportunity exists to learn skills and advance one’s knowledge of sustainable building practices and techniques. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: • 1+ year prior construction related experience • 1+ year prior landscape/gardening related experience • Driver’s license and clean driving record • Own a vehicle for transportation to various job sites and/or company’s office TASK REQUIREMENTS: • Handling of natural landscape materials: organic soil products, gravel, etc. • Handling of synthetic landscape materials: matting, filter fabric, etc. • Installation of irrigation: piping & components; valves, sprayheads, drip line, filters, etc. • Installation of plants: plugs, liners and 4” & 1 gal pots. • Comfortable working at heights above the ground level – i.e., roofs • Comfortable using ladders, scaffolding or lifting them in place • Knowledgeable of workplace safety practices • Ability to lift heavy and maneuver bulky construction materials • Able to endure a wide range of physical activities • Able to endure outdoor weather conditions (all seasons) • Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties • Maintenance: Weeding, pruning, and deadheading • Responsible for hand tools and equipment used in maintenance work • Work cooperatively with others and/or independently at times • Follow all safety rules and regulations DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES: • High school diploma or higher educational background • Experience in coursework or training in sustainable landscaping, ecological based gardening and/or permaculture knowledge and practices • Horticultural and plant knowledge • Ability to read construction and/or landscape plans • Self-motivated and dependable; willing to learn • Flexibility with schedule • Access to a computer; fill out forms for maintenance visits PAY: $DOE Compensatory based on experience level and qualifications. Wage increase opportunities exist over extended employment duration with company.
