POSITION SUMMARY: The School Maintenance Assistant shall assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition; assist in promoting the safety, health and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds and maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects. DUTIES: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: Maintenance of equipment; Maintenance of facilities such as playgrounds, walkways, outdoor grounds and interior spaces; Planning and implementation of routine facility maintenance; Minor repairs of equipment, building, and overall facility; Additional related tasks as assigned SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal skills; Effective oral and written communication skills; Ability to plan and prioritize work and time; Ability to react and move quickly; Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality; Excellent organizational skills; Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; Ability to have fun working around preschool -- middle school children; Be able to work in a school and childcare environment QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of maintenance experience; Ability to lift up to fifty pounds Ability to operate maintenance equipment Hold a Washington State driver’s license Ability to pass State of Washington background checks
