STOUGHTON, MA — A text alert was sent out to Stoughton residents Wednesday notifying them a cooling center is open at the Stoughton Public Library for residents who need relief from the heatwave. The opening alert comes after state officials issued a heat advisory for Wednesday, August 11 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, along with an excessive heat watch on Thursday. The advisory includes all of Massachusetts, except for the Cape and Islands. The National Weather Service forecasted temperatures, saying Thursday is expected to be the peak of the potential heatwave, with maximum heat indices near 110 degrees in some parts of the state. Town officials said cooling center hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., each day during the advisory. The Stoughton Public Library is located at 84 Park St.
