READING, MA — Reading Town Manager Bob LeLacheur announced his intent to resign Tuesday.
In a letter to the Select Board, first published by the Reading Post, LeLacheur said his resignation will be effective Feb. 25.
LeLacheur elaborated that he wants to help the new school administration with its first budget process and give the Select Board sufficient time to find his replacement.
"It has been a distinct pleasure to serve all members of the Reading community for the past 16 years," LeLacheur wrote. "It has been my great honor to work with such a fine group of colleagues during that time. I would especially like to thank everyone for their words of encouragement and thanks along the way, and wish you all good health and safety in the coming years."
LeLacheur was appointed to the role in 2013 after serving as assistant town manager and finance director under Reading's first town manager, Peter Hechenbleikner.
