Description

Join Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful as we create a sand dune on the shores of Picnic Island. Each year, a symbolic "golden shovel" gets passed from one Super Bowl host committee to the next. As the Super Bowl moves from Tampa to Los Angeles, Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful has partnered with NFL Green to host two more community greening projects that will leave a lasting legacy in Tampa Bay. Expanding on last year’s Golden Shovel Community Greening Project, volunteers are once again invited to help with a Sand Dune Restoration Planting at Picnic Island Park. We will plant over 900 plants including sea oats, dune sunflowers, railroad vine, muhly grass and cordgrass to help prevent erosion. This planting event will limited to 50 volunteers.
