WAUKESHA, WI — Many Waukesha County residents were left without power and had to clean up debris, branches and other damaged caused by Tuesday's storm. A severe thunderstorm warning went into effect Tuesday night for the region. Photos shared to social media showed downed trees in Milwaukee and Waukesha. The National Weather Service said the weather Wednesday will be similar to Tuesday's, with excessive heat followed by severe thunderstorms. (Courtesy of Mike Crowley) Waukesha city crews have been responding and assessing damage caused by Tuesday night's storm, according to a city news release. City crews will clean up and remove trees that grew in the terrace area between the sidewalk and the curb, city officials said. Residents were responsible for cleaning up trees on their property. Crews will also remove large branches placed in the terrace area for the rest of the week. Residents must place such branches on the terrace by 7 a.m. Monday at the latest for pickup; storm debris that isn't will be the responsibility of the homeowner, the cit said. The drop-off center at 750 Sentry Drive is currently closed for reconstruction of a retaining wall. but will open temporarily for residents to bring storm branches from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. No other materials will be accepted. The city urged residents to use caution as they worked on their own property and assess damage.
