BROOKLINE, MA — The Brookline Department of Public Health has declared a Heat Emergency from Wednesday, August 11 through Friday, August 13, cancelled all outdoor programs, and opened the towns cooling centers in response to this week's high temperatures.. Temperatures are forecast to be in the lower-mid 90s in the Brookline area for the next three days, with high humidity levels resulting in even higher heat indexes. Here's a list of Brookline's public cooling centers: Brookline Public Safety Building Community Room, 350 Washington St. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Brookline Senior Center, 93 Winchester St. Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.The Public Libraries of BrooklineMain Branch, 361 Washington St. Open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Coolidge Corner Branch, 31 Pleasant St. Open Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to5 p.m.Putterham Branch, 959 West Roxbury Parkway. Open Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to the public cooling centers, the Brookline Housing Authority will have air-conditioned community rooms available for residents of 61 Park St., 90 Longwood Ave., 50 Pleasant St., 190 Harvard St. and Colonel Floyd (at 28 Foster St.). During the Heat Emergency, residents may use the pool at the Evelyn Kittane Aquatics Center at 60 Tappan St. free of charge.
