Description

Press release from the Town of Bedford: August 11, 2021 - 10:05am The Bedford Department of Public Works will work with a contractor to construct a new sidewalk along the east side of South Road from 178 South Road to Evergreen Avenue. The project will feature a 5-footwide Americans with Disabilities Act compliant asphalt sidewalk with a grass strip separating the sidewalk where feasible. Push-button activated pedestrian crossing signals will be installed at the trail to the Hartwell Town Forest and at the Liberty Road/Evergreen Avenue intersection to improve pedestrian safety. Notifications to nearby residents have been mailed out. The contractor is currently expected to start the week of August 23rd. Work will happen Monday through Friday from 7am – 5pm, dependent on the weather. Driveway access will be maintained throughout the project, but residents may experience delays if work is being done right in front of their property. Residents with a lawn irrigation system should mark sprinkler heads prior to construction. The Bedford Police Department will be on site to direct traffic and to ensure everyone's safety. Please use caution around heavy equipment.  Thank you for your patience as we move through the construction season.
