Test Drive Turns Into Carjacking In South Arlington: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — What started out as a test drive on Monday afternoon turned into an armed carjacking in South Arlington, according to the Arlington County Police Department's daily crime report. Officers responded around 3:49 p.m., for the report of a robbery by force in the 2400 block of S. Glebe Road. The victim told police they had made a connection with a man online regarding the sale of a car. Later, they met for a test drive. During the test drive, police say the man pulled into a parking lot, reached into a bag, and produced a firearm, which he pointed at the victim. The victim was able to escape before the man drove off with the car. Police described the suspect as a Black man in his mid-30s, standing 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, and weighing 150 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing construction clothing, including a yellow vest, orange reflectors, pants that match, black work shoes and black sunglasses. He was also carrying a tan bag. The missing vehicle is described as a black 2015 Lexus RC with Arizona tags. This remains an ongoing investigation.
