NORRISTOWN, PA — A new community garden is open in Norristown, and residents are invited to apply for their own plot.
The Norristown Sprouts Community Garden, funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, is located at the Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy on 1601 Markley.
The garden features space for community members to grow vegetables, herbs, flowers, and other plants.
Individuals can either apply for their own plot or volunteer to assist in the garden's upkeep. In order to have your own plot, you must be a Norristown resident or a member of a Norristown school or organization, be at least 16 or older, and have a current child clearance. The membership application is available online here.
The Department of Health is using a Preventative Health and Health Services Block Grant to fund the garden, and it will be maintained by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health and the Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy.
