LEMONT, IL — If you are recovering from an injury, surgery or illness and are in need of medical equipment items, the Lemont Township offers a medical equipment lending closet.
Available for any township resident, the lending closet has wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, bed rails, shower and bathroom chairs, foot "boots," and other items based on donations and availability.
"It's a great resource for families who have surgeries or loved ones who are declining [in health]," Facilities Director Kathy Henrikson said.
"It's also a way for us to allow caregivers the opportunity to process through some of the anxiety they're facing as a caregiver," Henrikson said, adding that the closet also helps residents with the financial burden from needed equipment.
She said the most borrowed item from the closet is walkers. The township has several kinds available based on the mobility level of the resident.
If you have equipment to donate, donations are also accepted to the lending closet and can be dropped off at the Lemont Township office, 1115 Warner Ave.
If you'd like to use the closet, you can call the township office at 630-257-2522 to see availability of what you may need. Township residents can borrow any items by filling out a reservation form and showing an ID at the township front desk.
