DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Doylestown Township has opened the meeting room in its administration building as a cooling center, with southeastern PA under an excessive heat warning from the National Weather Service. The cooling center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day through Friday for residents to escape the extreme heat, with heat index values in Bucks County set to reach triple digits Wednesday and Thursday. Masks are required for anyone who is using the cooling center. Extreme heat and humidity will "significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," the National Weather Service said in its warning. Excessive Heat Warning In PA, Could Feel As Hot As 110 Thursday The "most oppressive" heat and humidity is forecast for Thursday. The excessive heat warning expires Thursday night, but residents should prepare for hot and humid conditions to continue in southeastern Pennsylvania through Friday. Residents should expect "little relief" from the hot and humid weather at night, forecasters said. The National Weather Service is recommending people stay inside, drink plenty of fluids and check on relatives and neighbors amid the heat wave. Young children and pets should not be left in vehicles under any circumstances.
