COLUMBUS, OH — Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff will lead the Ohio Department of Health starting Aug. 16.
Vanderhoff was serving as the department's chief medical officer, but was promoted to director on Wednesday, Gov. Mike DeWine announced.
"I am pleased that Dr. Vanderhoff has agreed to serve as Director of the Ohio Department of Health. His medical and organizational expertise will help the department as we move forward and continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic," DeWine said.
Current director Stephanie McCloud is returning to her position as administrator of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
"I would also like to thank Stephanie McCloud for her leadership of the Ohio Department of Health and look forward to her return to lead the Bureau of Workers' Compensation," DeWine added.
Both changes will need to be approved by the Ohio Senate, but should go into effect on Aug. 16, the governor's office said.
Vanderhoff and McCloud replaced Dr. Amy Acton last year after she left state employment.
