Yolo County Office of Education Welcomes Staff to New School Year

On Monday, the Yolo County Office of Education (YCOE) hosted its annual Back-to-School Orientation for all employees. This year's event was held outdoors at Greengate School in Woodland in accordance with public health and safety guidance. The orientation was attended by nearly 270 employees of the county office of education. The first day of school for most YCOE programs is Wednesday, August 11. Superintendent Garth Lewis emceed the event to welcome all educators and staff to a new school year. YCOE programs will return 100% in-person during the 2021-2022 school year. During the orientation, staff heard from motivational speaker "Coach Al" Venegas. In his message to educators, Venegas said "We are getting up every day to serve, every day to give. That's what makes Yolo County special." Venegas also serves as an elected trustee for the Washington Unified School District in West Sacramento.
