When someone with a place for rent on Craigslist (or anything on craigslist really) insists you take the conversation to text or email outside of craigslist, they could be trying to bypass craigslist security measures. If you keep using craigslist relay (email) you can report them if you discover fraud with a link in the email thread. I’m seeing a ton of ads in Vancouver immediately asking you to text, email or share with them your email. One person actually sent me a credit app and on there it asked how I’d like to pay my deposit. They gave me their name and I checked the tax record with the city and his name was not on record. So how could he enter into a contract with me to rent the property? It was a scam.
