BlueSun has an immediate need for a temporary, full-time Hop Harvest Field Assistant for the Crop and Science Department at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR POSITION SUMMARY The positions will assist with field work and hop harvesting procedures for approximately one month (anticipated timeframe is August 23-September 17). Duties: but no limited to 95% Farm Operations (Hop harvest) • Assists with the assessment and collection of experimental hop plants from the field for harvest • Participates with operating hop harvester, loading and unloading plants from trailers, collecting and weighing cones, gathering aroma and phenotypic data, discarding plant waste, and overall field maintenance and clean-up • Assists with processing hop cones, including drying, baling, pelleting, vacuum sealing, sorting, labeling, and aiding in sensory analyses of experimental hop samples 5% Other Field Work Duties include basic field work and end of harvest clean-up of the field, machinery, and equipment. ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, squat, and stand for multiple hours in the field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Background in agricultural or biological science discipline preferred but not required. Field work experience a plus. Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
