Job Description Housekeeper/Janitor Summary: The B’nai B’rith Apartments in Allentown, PA have 270 apartments providing housing for elderly persons over 62 years of age and persons with a mobility impairment who are over the age of 18 and require the special features of a wheelchair accessible apartment. Tenants live in their own apartments in an independent manner. The tenant rents are subsidized by the federal Government through the Section 8 rental subsidy program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Tenants pay 30% of their adjusted gross income for rent. The Housekeeper/Janitor is responsible for daily cleaning of main floors, lobby, laundry room, elevators, recycle areas, restrooms, assist with apartment renovations as well as other duties assigned. JOB REQUREMENTS: • Applicants must have 2 years experience cleaning experience. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) • Works well independently • Able to work as part of a team when needed The person in this position must have excellent clear speaking skills as they will be talking with and explaining information to tenants, staff, contractors, etc. The should have good written communication skills Background: A successful applicant must be able to pass a full credit, criminal and sex offender background check. COMPENSATION: Salary is $15.00 per hour (approximately $31,200 per year) plus overtime (if needed), plus 100% company paid health insurance for EMPLOYEE AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS (Currently Capital Blue Cross), paid vision and dental insurance for employee, annual pension contribution from employer, paid holidays, vacation and sick days. Overtime if needed will be paid at the rate of 1 ½ times the regular rate for any time over 40 hours and 2 times the regular rate for working on a holiday that the office would normally be closed for.
