Description

We are an environmental drilling contractor that uses diesel-fueled vehicles, light-duty trucks, trailers, and drilling equipment. To keep our equipment running to the maximum level of functionality and longevity, we need an experienced Shop Mechanic. This position would be responsible for: • Federal DOT inspections on trucks and trailers • Preventative maintenance on trucks to include but not limited to: o Oil changes, greasing chassis, inspecting brakes, inspecting tire wear, checking power steering, transmission, and brake fluids, and all differential fluids o Removing and replacing air filters and cabin filters o Brake service removal and replacement o Air conditioning diagnosis and charging • Preventative maintenance on trailers to include but not limited to: o Maintaining the electrical elements on the trailers (lights, brakes, grounding, pigtails) o Wheels (pulling wheels/hubs for inspection, cleaning, and repacking wheel bearings with fresh grease) o Suspension (inspection, replacing broken or worn bolts, spring bolt eyes, shackles, equalizers) o Decking (inspection for broken, damaged, or loose boards) o Light welding or fabrication as needed o Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives o Make emergency field repairs on all equipment • Preventative maintenance and small engine repair, to include but not limited to: o Service and maintain fleet of trash pumps, generators, grouter engines, pressure washer engines, various hydraulic systems, and electric over hydraulic equipment o Service and maintain fleet of chainsaws and chop saws • Provide accurate estimates regarding cost, time, and effort for repairs and maintenance jobs • Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options, and maintaining relationships with vendors and OEM sources to get correct parts • Design and follow a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades • Maintain maintenance and repair records • Maintain a safe and organized garage space You must have proven experience working with diesel engines, components, operational mechanisms, and electrical systems, along with maintenance tools and repair equipment. You must be comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools and possess a working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods. You must have the ability to diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel fueled engines, and hydraulic systems. The willingness to partner with other team members is required, along with the ability to work independently. The working conditions require you to lay on your back to work upside down, to stand and work for long periods of time, to repetitively pull, push, reach above your head, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, and lift more than 40 pounds. You are required to wear steel-toed shoes. The shop is dusty, not air conditioned, but is heated. You will also be required to work out in the elements, at job sites, and the roadside as needed for emergency repairs. Compensation is negotiable based on experience (range is $26.00 to $28.00 per hour) and the work is full time Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
