Join the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens for a FREE yoga class as part of "WELLderness: An Outdoor Wellness Series" Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens presents "WELLderness: An Outdoor Wellness Series" bringing FREE fitness classes, fine art workshops, and other sessions to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens during the summer and fall months. Who: Priority registration is for residents East of the River (Wards 7 & 8) What you will be doing: Engage in a slow-paced yoga class as instructor Adrienne Shaw teaches participants about breathing and movement. Practice yoga in a group setting while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Gardens on a summer morning. Participants should bring a water bottle, yoga mat, snack, bug spray, sun protection (sunscreen/block, hat, sunglasses), and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors. When: Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:15am. Check-in opens at 10:00am. Where: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. Participants will meet by the entrance trail at the parking lot. Getting There: By car, there is a large visitors parking lot at the park entrance on Anacostia Ave and abundant street parking surrounding the park. By Metro, the park entrance is a 1.0 mile walk from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail. **Masks are optional for all participating. However, space remains limited to allow for social distancing among attendees and other park visitors.** About the Instructor: Adrienne Shaw is a Health and Wellness Advocate for life. She is certified to teach Yoga, Shallow Water Aerobics and Pilates and has taught formally since 2015. Adrienne currently serves as the Health and Wellness Coordinator for Region XI, BIGDOL. She regularly teaches at women’s retreats, conferences and DC/MD recreation centers. She has a heart for seniors and others who are beginning to explore physical fitness. Her motto: “Food is Not Your Friend” and “you must move your feet.” She always has fun during class. She says, “I believe in inclusivity and teach in a way that’s inviting for all participants. The flow of my class depends largely on who is present.
