Enjoy a fall afternoon of wine, beer, spirits and food tasting along Gig Harbor's downtown waterfront. The Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance is pleased to announce the return of our Autumn Sip & Stroll on Saturday, Oct.9, 2021 from 1pm - 5pm. Enjoy strolling along Gig Harbor's waterfront while stopping in at businesses serving as Stroll Stops to sample wines, brews, spirits and tasty small bites. Tastings begin at 1pm and end at 5pm, with the popular wine store - located at the registration location - remaining open until 6pm. The Alliance will provide complimentary transportation throughout the waterfront to make it easy to visit all of the Stroll Stops. Participants will receive a commemorative tasting glass and 15 sip tickets for alcohol. Additional sip tickets will be available for a small fee at the registration desk. More information will be released soon. The Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) is a Washington State and Nationally accredited Main Street organization. Through Main Street’s 4 Point Approach (Design, Economic Development, Organization and Promotion), the Alliance pursues a comprehensive commercial district revitalization strategy, brings all district stakeholders together, and encourages a vibrant economy while maintaining the historic character of the community. Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance events and projects include: Girls Night Out, Gig Harbor Wine & Food Experience, Waterfront Farmers Market, Summer Flower Baskets, Trick or Treat in the Harbor, Candlelight Christmas in the Harbor, Gig Harbor's Waterfront Restaurant Week, traffic counts, area trade analysis, merchant support, and more. We are neighbors, friends, co-workers, community leaders, and global citizens uniting for the common good. At The heart of our club are dedicated people who share a passion for community service, friendship and laughter. Together, we have power. We have the power to be the agents of change and help in our communities.  Service Above Self is something we Rotarians do every day. It’s in our DNA: a vital part of our character. It helps to define who we are and what we do. Throughout its 40 year history, the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor has accomplished many great things: From building a hospital in Latvia, to contributing toward St. Anthony’s Hospital and the YMCA in Gig Harbor. The club provides care packages to our soldiers from JBLM who are shipping out to harms way. We provided manpower and funds for the restoration of the Midway School at the Harbor History Museum.  Our commitment to Gig Harbor and its surrounding neighborhoods continues to grow, with projects like the rebuilding of the Orthopedic Guild thrift shop, so vital to those in need in our community. We have provided funding for Gig Harbor’s Play Zone and the Rotary Dog Park in collaboration with PenMet Parks. Along with Pierce County and the Friends of Tacoma Narrows Airport, we are building an observation deck at Tacoma Narrows Airport for all to enjoy. Connie’s Clock, our gift to the City of Gig Harbor in honor of Connie Schick, stands tall in the Finholm District. With the city we will extend the Cushman Trail down to Harborview Drive along the treatment plant. Our very successful Purdy Prison program, gives hope where none was before. It gives these women a second chance.
