Description

A beginner's guide to working with herbs as medicine. Exploring the roots of herbalism & all the ways we can keep the practice alive today. As an introductory overview of herbal medicine, this class is meant for anyone who has ever wondered about how to begin cultivating a relationship with healing plants. As the class begins, we will enter a meditative exploration into the senses - immersing ourselves into the felt experience of herbs and our inner-relationship with the plant kingdom. We will then discuss the roots of herbalism and how it has been practiced for thousands of years throughout cultures around the globe. While sipping on herbal teas and working hands-on with a selection of other organic herbs, we will share mindful dialogue about numerous ways that plant medicine can be utilized in our day-to-day. Exploring a handful of plants that are commonly used by herbalists today, we'll learn about how and when to use them, as well as where to acquire them. Hopefully by the end of this class, any lingering questions or curiosities that you may have about herbalism are able to be answered and you are able to walk away feeling a bit more ready to dive into the medicinal world of herbs. This event will be mostly floor seated. We will have some back jacks and chairs available but please bring your own meditation cushion/bolster if you wish. $25 - Payment options: Cash/Venmo/Zelle/Eventbrite.com/Meetup.com *(First class in Thee Tree House's herbal studies workshop series.. stay tuned for more!) Please contact the host, Tiffany Purtell at [email protected] with any questions.
