Description

We are excited to announce our first teacher training and information aka: Gathering of the STEMinds, of the year! Dear Colleagues, We are excited to announce our first teacher training session of the year! We will take this opportunity to unveil a brand new robotics program for you to explore: TECH in TRADES! This curriculum engages your students in an exploration of robotics and technology that are revolutionizing STEM Trades Industries. We have a series of "WOW!" evoking new project- based challenges for your students to conquer, and gain new educational technology skills that will prove to be very useful tools in the future! Highlights from the training will include: -Detailed overview of this year's robotics curriculum. -Introduction to fellow robotics teachers. -Explore EV3, VEX, and VEX-VR robotics tools. -Q&A on all and any questions you may have about how to facilitate our program. Latino STEM Alliance’s (LSA) mission is to inspire and empower under-resourced youth to achieve educational and career success in STEM fields. Since 1990, STEM jobs in the United States have grown 79%, however, Latinos are sorely underrepresented in the field, making up a mere 7% of all STEM workers in the country. STEM careers are plentiful, yet low-wealth students of color often lack exposure to the field and are shut out of opportunities. Lacking preparation which rigorous, hands-on STEM education provides, thousands of under-resourced students in the Greater Boston area are denied the chance to pursue STEM postsecondary education and careers.
