Come have fun on a small earth building; mixing cob, making walls, installing windows, lintels, passive solar, earth floors, plaster, etc. We are located on a small family farm in the Sangre de Cristo mountains and the project has been going for a couple of years now. We are at the stage where a lot is happening with the building, so many different kinds of opportunities exist to learn new aspects of earth building. If you want to learn more about a part of the project , we can expand on that and take different paths for the workshop. Lunch and snacks and water/non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. There is a limited amount of shade so please come dressed for changing weather conditions. Mud is everywhere on the site, so whatever you wear, it will get muddy. We are using different techniques where we need to: cob, adobe, cordwood masonry, light clay slip, earth plaster, etc. We are really excited to share our experience of building your own home from scratch.
