Angie TuresExecutive Director of Femme Frontera Angie has worked in independent film since 2003 after graduating from the University of San Francisco. For twelve years, she worked as a producer, director, and editor in the Bay Area mentoring under Oscar-nominated and Sundance award-winning documentary filmmakers. Since 2011, Angie has lived and worked in El Paso, Texas. She founded the Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase in 2016 and serves as Executive Director of Femme Frontera. In 2021, Angie will complete her first feature narrative script and begin work on a feature documentary about seeking environmental justice in her hometown. Femme Frontera was founded in 2016 by six women and non-binary filmmakers from the U.S.-Mexico border region of El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. They amplify films made by women and non-binary filmmakers from border regions around the world. Since 2017, Femme Frontera has been featured in Variety Magazine, Remezcla, and Texas Monthly magazine, among others. In 2020, Femme Frontera was awarded funding from the Ford Foundation for organizational support and a grant from the Perspective Fund to expand the documentary program and integrate Spanish speaking only classes into its curriculum. In 2021, Femme Frontera was awarded a Sundance Arts Organization Grant to begin a Border Filmmakers’ Lab serving El Paso and Juarez women and non-binary filmmakers. Jesus "Cimi" AlvaradoArtist / MuralistJesus “CIMI” Alvarado began his artistic career as a graffiti artist in El Paso Texas, and his footprint can be found throughout the city’s historic Segundo Barrio and beyond . His work is entirely rooted to the community he’s working in at a particular time, and his process usually includes elements of community brainstorming and participation within the creation of each public work. In the same vein as Chicano muralists who have come before him — like his former teacher at Bowie High School, Gaspar Enriquez — his art is truly public, honoring the everyday Chicanx population that strengthens border culture in El Paso. The power of both contemporary and historic Chicanx figures is the driving force behind much of CIMI’s work. Gabriel GonzalezMusician/Recording Engineer/ProducerGabriel Gonzalez is a 30-year veteran of the El Paso music scene. A multi-instrumentalist, engineer and producer, he has toured and recored with the bands Sparta and Sleepercar. Since the early 90's he has shared the stage with bands such as White Zombie, Bad Religion, Fugazi, Pearl Jam and more. Other contributions include being a partner and operator of Clap of Thunder Studios and the late venues Tricky Falls/Bowie Feathers.
