Description

Don't miss an evening of acoustic blues in the historic Clock Tower building at the crossroads of S. Center & Broad St. Statesville NC. Kay and Patrick Crouch were inspired to create a country blues show for a peformance at the Pop Ferguson Blues Festival held in Lenoir, NC several years ago. Kay and Patrick's material for this show is drawn from African American Sprituals, Jimmie Rodgers, Mississippi John Hurt, Hank Williams, Lead Belly and current blues artists. Their acoustic blues performance features resophonic slide guitars, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and piano. Danny Wicker has mastered and absorbed the complex, multi-voiced fingerstyle guitar and vocals and has mastered the style and soul playing of the Piedmont Blues. Also known as the East Coast Style, the Piedmont Blues was a regional, rural country blues prominent in African American communities in the 1920's through the 1940's. Some of the main proponents of the style were Sonny Terry and Brownie Mcghee, Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Gary Davis, Blind Blake, Blind willie Mctell and Elizabeth Cotton. Danny has won numerous awards and has been recognized by the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society and the Charlotte Blues Society.
