An introduction to the wood lathe and the basics of wood turning. A unique machine in the woodworking world, the lathe is a great tool whether you're new to woodworking or have been practicing for years. In this class, learn how to safely set up the lathe, use different wood turning tools, and prepare materials to make pegs, table legs, bowls, and other round or cylindrical wood creations. Please Note: This is a 2 hour class every other Tuesday from 3:00pm - 5:00pmLocation: MaketoryMandatory Safety Equipment: Safety Glasses (Maketory has pairs available at the facility if you do not own any). Closed-toed shoes, full length pants and short sleeves. Pull back hair, remove all jewelry, and do not wear gloves.Advisable but not required: Hearing protection, respirator or dust maskMinimum Age: 18, or 15 or older if accompanied by an adultIf class is sold out and you have a group interested, please contact us directly to coordinate a new date. We require at least 3 participants to run the course. In the event we do not reach 3 participants we will reach out to reschedule or issue a refund, whichever you prefer. Tickets are nonrefundable (unless class is cancelled) and can not be used for another date.Maketory is a membership based facility. This course also serves as a certification to run the machine independently at our facility as a member (valid for 60 days after class is taken). He has a background in woodworking and metalworking, jewelry making, animation and 3D design.
