FAQS - Frequently Asked Questions We've been hard at work planning for this years services and we are looking forward to being back at our original location in Zinman Hall on our Jewish Federation campus. Unfortunatly the campus is still shut down for in person programs and we will instead be back at the Boca Raton Synagogue with the same "Covid-19" schedule of services that we had last year. When we started planning at the begining of the summer, the synagogues Covid-19 safety protocols had been mostly eliminated. There were no longer any capacity restrictions, social distancing measures had been removed, and face coverings were only required for those who were unvaccinated. Unfortunately, the situation in Palm Beach County has declined significantly since early July, and we feel we should be judicious and cautious in our approach, while still allowing for a meaningful, in-person High Holy Day worship experience. Please note that that face coverings will be required, regardless of vaccination status. Proof of vaccination is not required, as it is prohibited by State of Florida law. Is this a typical High Holiday Service? No way, it’s a High Holiday Service unlike any you have attended before!! It's interactive and you can even sing along! These interactive services, in which the prayers and customs are fully explained, are designed to provide a meaningful High Holiday Jewish experience to everyone who attends. Your High Holidays will never be the same again. Is the service in English or Hebrew? We use a special custom made Machzor (High Holiday prayer book) that uses both Hebrew and English, but all of the Hebrew prayers are transliterated into English so that everyone can easily follow along. Will I know all of the tunes? Some of the tunes will be familiar traditional tunes and some will be new, but everything will be taught and explained so you will feel part of the special experience. Why will I love this service? This Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, approximately 2 million American Jews will attend High Holiday Services. Unfortunately, you may not be one of them. Why? Is it because: You do not understand the prayers. Although highly educated and sophisticated you feel inadequate and illiterate in a synagogue setting. The sermons do not speak to you and the rituals make you feel awkward. Frequently, you leave the synagogue feeling guiltier than before you came so it's no wonder why you rarely come in, let alone come back!! With this in mind, the Boca Raton Jewish Experience and the Boca Raton Synagogue have designed special “High Holiday Beginners Services'' for you! Where is it located? At the Boca Raton Synagogue, 7900 Montoya Circle N., Boca Raton, FL 33433 Do I need reservations? Yes, because of security and limited seating, reservations are required. What are my parking options getting to the event? Free parking is available in the grass parking lot next to the synagogue. What can/can't I bring to the event?
