Medfield Food Cupboard - MUCH NEWS TO SHARE... MFC NEW Location After many years of searching, we have finally found an ideal location at 93 West Street to relocate. This move will allow us to execute our mission in many more impactful ways such as expanding our shopping times to include daytime and Saturday options. Moreover, with added refrigeration and freezer space we can offer much more and store safely greater varieties of fresh produce, dairy, and meat items. Our new location is situated entirely on the ground level which significantly improves our internal operations and enhances volunteer safety. Currently, our food inventory is stored in a basement requiring it to be carried down flights of stairs to store and carried up again to distribute. We estimate that for each distribution we carry up over 2000 items. We are thrilled to better serve the Medfield community and modernize our operations at 93 West, but we are going to sorely miss our United Church Christ (UCC) family. Since our inception, the UCC has more than provided a roof over our heads, they have nurtured us and tended to our every need! We will be forever grateful for their partnership and overwhelming generosity which gave us the means to provide food security to the most vulnerable members in our beloved town. We will open our doors in our new home early this Fall. Keep an eye out for more news and plenty of photos! CELEBRATING Neighbors Helping Neighbors This year marks our 30th anniversary. It's an impressive milestone that represents a tremendous amount of volunteer work and generous donations from Medfield residents over the last three decades. What started out as a small group of volunteers with a desire to help their neighbors has grown into a full fledged community organization strong enough to sustain operations even during this prolonged Covid pandemic. We are going to take this opportunity to celebrate the many acts of kindness extended to us over these many years. Each and every one carries with it a lasting impact on those who rely on the Food Cupboard's services. Dalton Family Youth Service Award We kicked off our anniversary festivities this Spring by officially naming our youth service award the "Dalton Family Youth Service Award" in honor of the Dalton Family who have served the Medfield Food Cupboard for more than 20 years. The award recognizes our students' years of service at the food cupboard and is given to every student at the end of their Senior year. It is our hope that the longevity, sincerity and consistency of the Dalton's volunteerism will serve as an inspiration to these young volunteers to continue helping others throughout their own lives.
