Description
WMEAC and TreeRunners GR are teaming up! Volunteers who participate Aug.19th will be rewarded with a voucher to climb for free in the park!
WMEAC and TreeRunners Adventure Park have come together and determined that there is a prime location within the park at TreeRunners to include a wildflower garden. The location would host a variety of local pollinator plants such as wildflowers and milk weed that would be extremely beneficial to local insect populations including monarch butterflies. The flowers would not bloom till the following spring but getting the area and seeds prepared now will allow for maximum results in the long-term as well as the coming spring. The site will be certified as a Monarch Waystation, a place for monarchs to travel to and rest along their migration which is especially important in urban areas. Volunteers would be asked to help clear the designated area of weeds and grasses, and prepare the soil for the seeds that will simply be sprinkled over the soil and lightly watered. Once the work is complete all volunteers that participated will be given a voucher for a free three-hour climb at the park, good for anytime. This event will be a great opportunity to help out local butterfly population and be rewarded for it with a fun experience outdoors.
