MILWAUKEE, WI — Summerfest will require its visitors to provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result to attend.
Milwaukee World Festival Inc., the company that organizes the event, made the announcement Tuesday with support from the Milwaukee Health Department.
All attendees will be asked to show a valid COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of a negative test when entering at any gate, the company said. An original vaccination card, a printed copy of a valid vaccination card or a negative test will be accepted.
Phone screenshots and pictures of documents may be presented as well. Printed copies, phone screenshots or phone photos of documents must include the entire front of the vaccination card, or they won't be accepted, the company said.
The new entry rules will apply to the Wednesday Weekend Preview concerts held at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, the company said. Those shows are Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer on Sept. 1; the Jonas Brothers on Sept. 8; and Dave Matthews Band on Sept. 15, the Milwaukee Record reported.
The new rules will also apply at the Little Big Town/BoDeans concert at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Friday, the company said.
Summerfest recommened masks for indoor spaces and for unvaccinated people. Children under 12 will be required to wear masks, the company said.
Refunds for general admission and concert tickets depend on Ticketmaster policies, the company said. Visitors can check summerfest.com for more information.
