WEST HAVEN, CT — The city departments of Health and Emergency Management strongly recommend that all people wear face masks indoors in areas of high or substantial COVID-19 transmission regardless of vaccination status, West Haven Mayor Nancy R. Rossi announced Monday. All eight counties in Connecticut are considered areas of substantial transmission, Rossi noted. Read more from news release below: Given the increasing cases of COVID-19 in West Haven (case rate of 9 percent) Given the increased transmissibility of the now dominant Delta variant.Given that 55.36 percent of West Haven residents are vaccinated.Given that there is no vaccine for children under the age of 12 years old.Given that the City of West Haven is requiring face masks in all municipal buildings. The City of West Haven, the West Haven Health Department and the Department of Emergency Management strongly recommend that all people wear masks indoors in areas of high or substantial COVID-19 transmission regardless of vaccination status. All eight counties in the State of CT are considered areas of substantial transmission.
