Description
Resin Replica - Scrimshaw is an art that dates back to the Whaling Days over 150 years ago. During long voyages New Bedford whalemen used discarded whale's teeth and bits of ivory and etched them with ships and scenes of the voyage. This was done with sharp instruments and was very laborious work. The art form is now being preserved by native artists in this area and is rarely found outside of New Bedford. (Eastland Scrimshaw) - 1" x 3/16" Scrimshaw piece - 18" silver chain
