Several Prince George's Restaurants Are Award Finalists

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County restaurants are among the finalists for the 2021 RAMMYs. These are the regional eatery and food service awards held by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. RAMW announced the contenders on July 26. Voting is already underway for some of the hopefuls. The annual awards honor the accomplishments of cuisine-oriented businesses in the Washington, D.C.-area. The RAMMYs will include special categories this year to recognize the creative ways that establishments adapted to the coronavirus pandemic. A few examples are: Finer Dining in a Box honoring takeout mealsMost Innovative To-Go Packaging Game celebrating creative carry out ordersMost Impressive Pivot to Provisions or Market applauding operators that started offering suppliesCoolest Cocktails and Beverages To-Go cheering the top take-home drinks Unlike most years, RAMW membership was not required for nominations. Finalists SEOULSPICE made the shortlist for the Most Impressive Pivot to Provisions or Market award. The Korean restaurant has a location in College Park. Feed the Fridge is up for the Good Neighbor achievement. The nonprofit pays restaurants to cook nutritious meals. The group then places the free plates in refrigerators around the DMV. One of these fridges is in Riverdale. Keany Produce & Gourmet is vying for Company/Organization Honors. The Landover-based supplier delivers fresh food to local eateries. Pizzeria Paradiso, which has a Hyattsville location, also hopes to win Company/Organization Honors. The small pizza chain additionally earned one of five 2021 Honorary Milestone RAMMY Awards for its 30 years in business. Pennyroyal Station has its sights set on the Standout Family Meal Packages To-Go honor. The Mount Rainier restaurant is known for its comfort food. Silver Diner looks to take home the Technology Trailblazers recognition. The mid-Atlantic eatery has sites in Greenbelt and Lanham. KitchenCray is a finalist for Stellar Brunches at Home. The business has an eatery in Lanham that intertwines seafood and traditional dishes. Voting Nearly half the award categories are open to a public vote. Voting began Aug. 2, and it ends Sept. 2. RAMW will announce winners Sept. 19 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The full list of finalists is posted here.
