COVID-19 Pandemic Recovery Focus Of NoVA Business Summit

ARLINGTON, VA — Northern Virginia business leaders will have the opportunity to talk with local elected leaders about the economic climate as the region recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release. The 6th Annual Northern Virginia Regional Elected Leaders Summit will take place Aug. 24, from 8-10 a.m., at George Mason University's Van Metre Hall. Participants can register online to attend or view the summit remotely through Zoom. The summit will bring together local leaders to discuss new and ongoing initiatives to promote economic growth across the region. The aim is to find ways for the various jurisdictions to work together to improve the regional economy, especially when it comes to pandemic recovery. Other topics of discussion will include the region's workforce, housing and transportation network. Both the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to host the event along with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Prince William Chamber of Commerce and Northern Virginia Regional Commission. "Regional collaboration across the public and private sectors continues to be of utmost importance as we move into pandemic recovery," said Kate Bates, president and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. "This summit will allow Northern Virginians to understand how the region is working together to support our communities. I am grateful for the strong partnerships among the chambers of commerce in the region, and our elected leaders." Elected officials participating in the summit will include Arlington County Board Vice Chair Katie Cristol, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Jeff McKay, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall, Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chair Ann Wheeler and City of Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson. Drew Wilder, a NBC reporter, will moderate.
