Press release from the City of Santa Monica: August 9, 2021 4:00 PM Santa Monica Public Library is excited to present a virtual family-friendly Insect Discovery Lab as the finale show to our 2021 Summer Reading Program on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 2:30 pm.  Explore the fantastic lives of beetles, millipedes, tarantulas, walking sticks, whip scorpions, and more with the staff of SaveNature.org. For ages 5 and up. Register in advance at  http://bit.ly/DiscoveryLabSMPL  Pick up a bug collection jar at the Main Library, Pico Branch Curbside or Montana Avenue Branch Curbside and become a bug scientist! (While supplies last.)    Join Santa Monica Public Library's free, all-ages Summer Reading Program, "Reading Colors Your World, which runs through August 15. Together we've read 194,445 minutes. There's still time to help us reach our community reading goal of 500,000 minutes read! Register in person at the Main Library, Pico Branch Curbside and Montana Avenue Branch Curbside, or online at smpl.beanstack.org. Track your reading to reach the goal of 10 hours/600 minutes read. Kids and teens earn special activity kits at 300 and 600 minutes read, and adults are entered into a prize drawing after 600 minutes read.   Generous support of Summer Reading provided by the Friends of the Santa Monica Public Library. The Friends is a non-profit volunteer organization that focuses on volunteering, fundraising, and support of the Library. Learn more about the Friends.  We hope to see you at the Library this summer.
