BEDFORD, NH — A GoFundMe fundraising effort has been started to assist the family of a Bedford man who drowned in a New Hampshire lake while trying to save another person. Vinod Varadharajan, 37, died on Aug. 7 at Echo Lake in Conway. He moved to the United States from India in 2017 to grow into his dream job of being an investment manager at Fidelity after studying engineering, according to friends and family. Varadharajan was described as a loving husband and father and dutiful son. "His colleagues know him as a dedicated, highly ethical worker," wrote Santhosh Sharanabasappa, who, along with four others, is promoting the effort. "Some would quip: when in doubt, call Vinod for support. Always respectful, his mannerisms endeared him to all. His role as a quantitative analyst in Fidelity Investments speaks volumes to his intelligence." The money will be used to provide for his daughter's education and support his family. A goal of $250,000 has been set. In the first 24 hours of the effort, more than $65,000 was raised. To make a donation to the In memory of Vinod Varadharajan effort, visit this link.
