STORY: 25K State Workers Must Get Vaccinated, Or Be Tested Weekly PENNSYLVANIA — As coronavirus continues its resurgence in Pennsylvania and across much of the nation, state officials are looking to find new ways to get the rest of the population vaccinated. Gov. Tom Wolf will announce a new vaccine initiative on Tuesday afternoon, when he appears at the Dauphin County State Health Center in Harrisburg. Details on the new initiative remain unclear, although state officials said the effort will "encourage Pennsylvanians to do their part by getting vaccinated to help stop the virus and help save lives." The rate of Pennsylvanians vaccinated has appeared to reach a plateau in recent weeks; as of Tuesday, the state had fully immunized 63.8 percent of residents 18 and older. That rate stood at 61 percent a month ago. The latest surge in the virus has been called a "pandemic of the unvaccinated." Creative efforts to reach vaccine-hesitant groups have been underway for months, with outreach ranging from promotions like free tickets and other giveaways, to local leaders from both parties standing together to underline the importance of the vaccine. Recent state-level programs include a partnership between the Department of Health and the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs to offer vaccines and educational information at fairs and other events. Tuesday's news conference will be held at 1:30 p.m. You can watch the livestream of the event online.
