JOLIET, IL — A 30-year-old Joliet man already facing domestic violence charges from April and last year now faces charges of aggravated battery in connection with allegations that he punched the same woman while she was outside on Windsor Street back in late June. The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow filed the latest criminal charges last week against Michael Gallegos, following a Joliet police investigation into the June 20 incident. In all three of Gallegos' three pending criminal charges, the same woman is the victim. In addition to facing aggravated battery charges from the June 20 incident, prosecutors have charged Gallegos with two counts of domestic battery. Gallegos grabbed her around the neck and struck her body, the criminal complaint states. Gallegos also faces charges of theft and violation of bail/bond. The theft charge indicates that Gallegos, a resident of the 400 block of Florence Avenue, "knowingly obtained unauthorized control over the property of another ... a cellphone." As of Aug. 10, Gallegos has not been taken into custody by Joliet police. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Aug. 5, according to the Will County Warrants website.
